Dear XDC Families,

This week in XDC our theme was “snow.” Students in XDC worked on snow themed projects and activities. Some of the students’ favorite projects this week were; creating snowflake pictures with paint-stamps, snowflake ornaments, playing with “snow” in the sensory table and making “snowball shooters.” Next week our theme is “Christmas.”

A reminder to parents:

Dear XDC Families,

This week our theme was “Winter.” Students in XDC began working on winter art projects and activities. This week some of the students’ favorite projects were: creating “Eskimos,” snowman paintings, “snow-globes,” and a science snowflake project. Next week our theme is “Snow.”

Dear XDC Families,

This week our theme was “multi-cultural.” Students in XDC enjoyed learning about different cultures around the world and creating multi-cultural art projects. Some of the students’ favorite projects this week were making paper “tee-pees,” Egyptian collars using oil pastels, paper Kimonos using watercolor crayons and lacing “multi-cultural cards.”

Next week our theme is “Thanksgiving.” Students in XDC will be working on Thanksgiving crafts and activities.

Dear XDC Families,

This week our theme was “fruits and vegetables.” During this week, students learned about different kinds of fruits and vegetables. Some of the students’ favorite projects this week were; drawing vegetable gardens using sandpaper rubbings, visiting the school garden, stamp-painting with vegetables, and discussing healthy foods as a class.

Next week, our theme is “Multi-cultural week.” Students will learn about different cultures, participate in various multi-cultural art projects and activities.

Along with our weekly themes, Preschoolers in XDC have been learning songs and reading books that are based on our weekly themes. In addition, preschoolers in XDC have been working on the alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors.

Dear XDC Families,

This week at XDC, the theme was “Farm Animals.” Students in XDC enjoyed learning about farm animals and making farm animal crafts. Some of the students’ favorite projects this week were; creating “barns” with popsicle sticks, making “chicks,” tracing the letter “b” for barn, and finger-painting pig pictures.

A look ahead at next week:

          Next week the theme is “fruits and vegetables.” Students will begin learning about and making fruits and veggie projects in XDC.

  • Wednesday, November 11th, 2015 is Veteran’s Day. XDC and school will be closed.

A reminder to parents:

Dear XDC Families,

Students in XDC have been enjoying the last few weeks of fall “themed” projects, as we head into the month of November next week! This week the theme was “Halloween.” Some of the students’ favorite projects this week were; making “skeleton hands,” painting “Frankenstein heads,” marble-painting “spider webs” and painting pumpkins.

Next week the theme is “Farm Animals.” Students will create “farm animal” art projects and continue making fall-themed crafts. We are looking forward to the month of November!

Dear XDC Families,
At Extended Day Care, students have been busily working on Fall crafts, and of course, getting into the Halloween spirit! This week the theme was “Halloween.” Students in Extended Day Care have started making Halloween decorations and working on Halloween themed projects. This week some of the students’ favorite projects were: making pumpkin bracelets, lacing spider-webs, orange marble paintings, and a Halloween cooking project!

A look ahead at next week:
Next week, the theme is “Halloween” part two. Students will continue creating Halloween crafts and projects.
School is closed on Wednesday, October 28th, Thursday, October 29th and Friday, October 30th for conferences. XDC will be open during that week. As you may have seen on our door, the themes for those days are as follows:
• Wednesday, October 28th is “out to lunch day.” Teachers will chaperone students who want to buy lunch at Taco Del Mar during lunch time. Make sure to send money with your students and sign the permission form!
• Thursday, October 29th is “create props and decorations” for the XDC Halloween carnival.
• Friday, October 30th is “Halloween Carnival day!” A fun day filled with Halloween games and activities!

Dear XDC Families,

We can really feel the spirit of fall in the air, as we head into the eighth week of school already! During the month of October, students in XDC have continued making fall themed projects. This week the theme was “trees.” Some of the students’ favorite activities this week were; blow-painting trees, creating “chicka chicka boom boom trees,” drawing trees, singing tree songs and learning about trees through science exploration.

A look ahead at next week:

          Next week the theme is “Halloween.” Students in XDC will begin to make Halloween crafts and science projects!

A reminder to parents:

Dear XDC Families,

As we have entered the season of fall, students in XDC are already busy making weekly themed fall crafts. This week the theme was “pumpkins.” Some of the students’ favorite pumpkin projects this week were; making pumpkin lanterns, painting pumpkins, tracing the letter “P” for pumpkin, stuffed pumpkin bags and a pumpkin pie cooking project.

A look ahead at next week:

Next week, the theme is “trees.” Students in XDC will explore the “tree” theme through interactive art projects, science explorations and seasonal activities.

October 2nd, 2015

Dear XDC Families,

The first month of school has quickly passed as we head into October and the second month of school already! During the first week of October, students in Extended Day Care have continued working on weekly themed projects. Students in Extended Day Care worked on fall projects this week. Some of the students’ favorite projects this week were: making autumn books, fall wreaths, leaf-stamp paintings and creating “button-trees.”

A look ahead at next week:

  • Tuesday, October 6th, is picture day for all students and staff.
  •   Wednesday, October 7th, there is an all XDC staff meeting at 6:30 PM.
  •  Friday, October 9th, St. John School will be celebrating the accomplishments of the Jog-a-thon by awarding prizes, drawing a winner for the trampoline, and doing the silly-string showdown.

Next week, the theme is “pumpkins.” Students will begin working on pumpkin crafts and activities.
